Skimming and scanning Non-fiction texts

I was learning to skim and scan to summarise.  Now I know that I only look at the photo and the first sentence to figure out what the page is about.  It was easy because I didn't need to read all of it.

Now I know that we have to look for clues, in the story.  I figure out the characters and what they like.   I found it easy to find the clues and understand them.

I was learning to tell the time.  Now I know that when the minute hand points to the 3 it is quarter past.  It was easy because you have to count  in 5s.

I was learning to skim and scan to summarise.  Now I know you have to read the first sentence of a bit of writing.  It was easy because you didn't need to read everything to get the main idea.

Using direct speech

I was learning to use direct speech.  Now I know you have to use a exclamation marks or question marks then use direct speech.  It was tricky because I didn't know where to put it.

Making inferences

Now I know that we have to look for clues in the story.  I have to use the clues to figure out the characters and what they like.  I found it easy to find the clues and under stand them.

I was learning to do equal shares.  I know how to make groups by sharing things.  It was tricky because I didn't know how to solve it but now I know.

Reflection
I was learning about a introduction and a conclusion.  I learnt about a body, speech marks and sequencing words.  Now I need to remember to put the speech marks when people talk.  I also learned to use conjunctions which are and and because.

Understanding multiplication

I was learning to understand multiplication.  Now I know 3x9 that means 3 groups of 9 is 27.It was easy because I don't count with my fingers so I do it in groups using skip counting and repeated addition.

I was learning to discuss the plot.  I know that the plot has a solution and a problem.  It was a little bit hard to talk about the problem and solution because lots of things happened in the story
